Sport at Frankston High School

Frankston High School Sport

Frankston High School is one of only a few secondary schools in Victoria to be designated an Exemplary Physical and Sport Education School. This is in recognition of our outstanding programs and success.  For consecutive years we have won the VSSSA State Athletics Championship, which is unprecedented in the history of government school sport. Over recent years state championships have been won in sports such as football, cricket, netball, rowing, tennis, badminton, hockey, basketball and equestrian. National and international titles have been achieved in athletics, life saving and swimming.

As a result of this, we attract students from all over the Mornington Peninsula, eager to be a part of the sports program at Frankston High School.

The sports program at Frankston High School gives all students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities. We aim to cater for all students’ interests and needs.
All students are allocated to a house group for intra-school sporting events. The four houses are named after the explorers Bass, Collins, Flinders and Murray. There is a swimming, cross country and athletics carnival each year and all interested students have the opportunity to compete. Winners of the house competition advance to inter-school district competition.

Frankston High School is unique as the only government school on the peninsula to offer sport as part of the Year 7 and 8 curriculum. Students participate in two periods of sport each week as part of the Sport Education Program.
